The first year Mike and I were dating we decided to have a Friendsgiving dinner at his apartment for 22 of our favorite people. How we comfortably fit 22 people and enough food to feed an army in a 700 square foot apartment, I’ll never know, but it was a success and it’s still one of our favorite memories. We roasted our very first turkey as a couple and we set up a long table that started in the kitchen, and ended at the other end of the apartment in the living room.
For decoration I kept it rustic: I cut squares of burlap and overlapped them, corner to corner, all the way down the table over a white table cloth. I bought a few sizes of mason jars and filled them about 1/3 of the way up with cranberries, almonds in their shell, and sprigs of rosemary. I then nestled votives and small pillar candles in the jars. A great tip is to put your candles in the freezer the night before a dinner party, it helps them burn a little more slowly, lasting you through the night.
I don’t think we’ll have time to plan another shindig at our apartment this year, but this girl can plan parties in her head all day long, so here’s a little Friendsgiving inspiration to help you plan your own party, whether it’s in your apartment, your home, or in your head ;). Also be sure to check out the board on Pinterest for even more ideas and recipes! (There’s a lot of mini-pumpkin pie in there. You’ve been warned.)
